To me this is one of those items that either works or it does not. This filter works! If you own one of the recommended pots you are going to need a good filter and this is a good filter. Sure you can spend twice as much but if you plan to use and keep your Cuisinart then you could be well served if you were to buy several packs of these.I like to change my coffee filter about once every three months or at the same time that I change my house water filters. No filter tastes. No bitter tastes. Just plain old fashioned filter water.

It's a two-pack and looks like the one that came with the unit I purchased. It's supposed to filter the water you put in the unit for better-tasting coffee. However, I always use filtered water anyway so don't even know if it is all that necessary.

I really don't know if this filter is necessary. The price is a little high too. I guess if you live in a area with poor water quality, it then would be necessary
