Second one of this model. 1st lasted about a year, no refund, just bought another just like it. Coffee is fantastic - tastes better than any maker I have used. Unit just stops working and I use my Mr. Coffee standby. Next morning, it works! Unfortunately, it finally stopped working all together after 14 months. Simply will not heat water to brew. Bummer. Will not buy another.

My MIL bought this for my husband as a christmas gift and it didn't last 2 years before it started leaking and then it just completely stopped working a few months after that. The same thing ended up happening to the one my MIL bought for herself. Great idea, but has some flaws.

Love the way this coffee maker keeps the coffee really hot. You can program the amount of time you want it to stay warm, start times of course. It makes a great pot of coffee - and it looks cool on the counter! Also love that there is no carafe to break/replace. I would give 5 stars except for 2 things - (1) the filter is hard to insert properly and (2) it's difficult to get the water in without some spillage, at least until you get the hang of it. I have not had any trouble with drips or leaks so far... stay tuned to see how it holds up with our very hard water.

This is our second DCC-2000. The first lasted about 3 years before the electronic controls quit working. We like the fact that the coffee doesn't "cook" on the hotplate after it's brewed. We also like the method of dispensing, and the taste of the brew (we use 1 tablespoon per cup, plus one extra per batch...e.g. 9 Tbs for 8 cups). We keep it on the kitchen counter, and it's within reach of the faucet/hose, so filling the container with water is simple.

I notice there are several changes in this (2010) model vs. the 2007 model: different electronic controls layout, different finish (the painted silvery surface is easier to clean than the stainless sheetmetal in 2007), the brewed coffee container formerly had a flapped spout & now it doesn't, and there is an improved method of catching condensation when you open the lid. AND THE PRICE IS ABOUT $30 LOWER!

We'll just have to see if the electronics hold up for longer than 3 years.

This is the third Cuisinart I have purchased. I love this coffee maker. I just wish it would last a little longer. Not sure what happens to them. I am hoping the third time is a charm. This one I purchased has a special button for cleaning. Perhaps, that could be an improvement. Anyway, the coffee tastes great and it is worth trying once again.

A carafe-less coffee maker seemed like a good idea when I first saw the Cuisinart DCC-2000, so I bought it. It does make good coffee. But I soon found out the disadvantages of owning it.

First was finding a container big enough to fill it without using glass after glass to fill it.

Second, was finding out I can't fill my thermos cup because it's to big. Again I have to pour coffee in another container and then into my thermos cup.

Next I find out that the coffee basket leaks when wanting to replace the coffee filter and add a new filter and coffee. That's because there is no shut off on the bottom of the basket as in pause and serve baskets, on other conventional coffee makers. The shut off on this is the button on front. That doesn't help changing the basket.

After a few months I kept finding coffee leaks under and around the coffee maker. Never did find out where it was coming out.

The clock has no back light, is small and is hard to see.

Anyway, it didn't take me long to dislike this carafe-less coffee maker, so I gave it to my neighbor.

Bought this coffee pot less than a year ago. Read the reviews. It is not worth the money. Anytime you have to let the pot cool down there is a problem with the wiring or the thermostat. May short out.

Just a pretty face. The first one lasted three months, then brewed erratically. Each pot took about four "resets." The retailer replaced it right away, but when this one breaks we're asking for the refund. I will then get out my checkbook and buy a real commercial-grade Bunn-O-Matic. I've had it up to here (look way up) with cheap coffee machines. At eight cups a day, I demand dedication to cause.

My problem with this unit is it's unreliability. I love the concept, and when it works - this thing is the best coffee maker I've ever owned. Unfortunately I've now gone through 2 of them. Each time they just stop working. I'm guessing it's electrical - either a switch, or something with the heater. It's too much of a pain to send it back to get serviced. I hoped my first one was a lemming, but my second one has just done the same thing. Googling I found this is a common issue. Shame - if they could solve that, this thing would be unbeatable.

I had high hopes for this coffeemaker. I was replacing a beloved Krups which finally died after 4 years of constant use. I don't like scorched coffee, so I wanted a thermal carafe. My husband doesn't like the slow pour typical of thermal carafes, so I thought this might be a great solution. It's not. It does pour quickly. However, the "thermal" coffee reservoir is useless. One can program the heat plate to stay on for up to four hours, and the coffee stays HOT and burned tasting. I have mine programmed to stay on for one hour and the coffee is too cool to drink after 90 minutes. This machine would be a reasonable choice for someone who wants a lot of coffee ready to serve quickly all at once, but it's not a good choice for someone like me who likes to drink their morning pot over a four hour morning. It's going back and I am going to get a more traditional thermal coffee maker.

I bought my first DCC-2000 in October 2006. It slowly faded out, with the controls shutting off unpredictably, until one day, it was just dead. I plugged it in and it wouldn't show the clock, nor would it turn on to brew the coffee. I contacted Cuisinart, who replaced it for a $10.00 shipping fee. I assume the replacement was refurbished. It began doing the same thing at about 9 months to a year. I coaxed about 5-6 more months out of it, but now it is sitting on my counter top DEAD. I will contact Cuisinart again, to see if they will replace again. However, I am not thrilled with having to replace this. A coffee pot that costs as much as this one does should last 5-10 years, not 18 months. When it works, it makes EXCELLENT coffee, and I love the feature of pushing the handle and getting hot, perfect, delicious coffee. It even has a gauge (my hubby enjoys that).

I have owned this coffemaker for 15 months and I am finally going to be forced to replace it. The only positive aspect I can think of about this machine is that you don't have to wash a pot. That's it.

My biggest issue with this coffeemaker is that it leaks. It used to only happen occasionally, filling up the "catch tray" and sometimes overflowing a little onto the counter. However, this morning I woke up to coffee all over my kitchen floor. As it brewed, it dripped right out of the dispenser, filled the "catch tray", and ran down my counter into the floor. Given that I have only had it a little over a year and it cost $100, I think this is a very poor construction on Cuisinart's part. I am not someone who minds paying a higher price for quality but I do expect the quality to be there. I had my last $30 Mr. Coffee for at least 5 years and it was still working just fine when I decided to "upgrade" to this model.

My other pet peeve about this machine is that I have, more than once, brewed fresh coffee only to realize I had forgotten to drain the old coffee from the previous day. I realize that this is my own fault, but maybe next time they could make the gauge a little easier to notice. When you are busy and trying to do many things at once, having to worry about sour coffee is silly. My next choice will be back to the tried and true coffeemaker with the pot.

I bought this coffee maker (I've owned it for 1-1/2 years) because of the convenience of no carafe, but this morning I discovered the downside. I woke up to coffee pouring out of the reservoir, all over the counter, down the side of the cabinets, and under the stove...it was everywhere. What a cleanup job...not fun at 5:00AM!! It's on its way to the dumpster as I type this.

Does ANYONE make a coffee maker that lasts more than a year or two?

"Great coffee, good looks & 2 minor irritations" 2009-08-16

I have owned this coffee maker since around Christmas 2008. It has been great! I have have had no problems with it (as reported in other reviews). - It has not broken, stopped brewing or had the condensation problems. (I bought mine in a store verses through the mail, so this may have been a factor?) The coffee is the best I have had from a home coffee maker. I really have never liked (or drank) the coffee I made at home until I bought this coffee maker. It brews quickly, is quiet, it lets me know when the coffee is done, and ultimately does what it supposed to do, brew one great cup of coffee.

I did have to get used to finding a way to put the water into it. I solved this by using the carafe from my old coffee maker. And, my other annoyance is that my travel mug does not fit in it. I have to keep a mug handy to fill the travel mug. But, I got used to this quickly. I can work around these things, and they do not bother me anymore.

I now love it! And, I get compliments on what great coffee I have made. I highly recommend this coffee maker and would buy it again!

"No fuss, no messy carafe!" 2009-08-13

I have had this coffee maker for about 6 months. I love that there is no carafe and I can put all the parts which get dirty straight into the dishwasher. There are two things that I don't love about this maker, but I have found ways around them--definitely not deal-breakers! The first thing is that it is difficult to fill the coffee maker with water without spilling everywhere. I ended up putting it close enough to my sink, so all I have to do is scoot it over, fill it with the sink sprayer, and that's that. The other thing I don't love is that it's not tall enough to fill my travel mug. I either scoot it to the edge of the counter to be able to put the mug below counter height, or just decant from a regular mug. Not a big deal. I like very strong coffee, so I end up only being able to make about 9 cups at a time without overflowing the coffee ground area. I probably shouldn't drink more than that anyway...It's definitely worth the money, and I have had no negative issues with it.
