Have always had a Cuisinart Coffee Maker and the last one I had lasted almost 10 years. So my daughter, on the spur of the moment was shopping and found a coffee maker of a different brand. I tried it for several weeks, but the quality was not the same. So, I saved the coffee maker my daughter bought for me for when she moves into an apartment, or dorm at College and I bought a new Cuisinart and I am much happier.

Believe me, if you purchase a Cuisinart Coffee Maker, it will last and stand the test of time.

I replaced this with my still-working Mr. Coffee but needed some features that my Mr. Coffee didn't have. The only two minor problems I have with this one is what another reviewer wrote. I have to pull the machine out from under the cupboard to fill it and I cannot see the water level on the machine so I need to measure the water before pouring it in. I would buy it again though as it does make good hot coffee.

I was excited to get this Cuisinart coffee maker. Alhough I had been a loyal Krups fan for the past ten years, I thought it was time to retire my old one and get something new. As it stands, I'm glad I kept my ten year old Krups.

First, let's talk design. Lacking an exterior water reservoir monitor, there's some guess work involved in knowing how much water you actually have in there, and the water-measuring system within the interior comes off as vague--that is, I can't tell if the water has to reach, or rise above, a certain number in order to equal that number of cups. Also, the lid and the oversized pot itself impede the pouring of water into the reservoir. These things of course are only minor elements.

Next, however, is the taste of the coffee. I've noticed that I have to use considerable more coffee just to get good-tasting coffee--more than I had to use in my other coffee maker. Cuisinart suggests one scoop from the included measuring spoon per 5 oz. cup, but regularly my coffee has tasted bland. And I do not make bland coffee, ever. I've worked as a barista; I know how to make a good pot of coffee.

Finally, my pot constantly overflows, even though the grind I'm using is correct and there should be no reason for the spillage, especially as I'm going through the same process each time, but the overflow doesn't happen with every pot. It's random, and it causes water spillage, and that is hazardous. On top of that, it's a lot of cleanup.

I'm very disappointed in this pot, because it got such good reviews and is, overall, a nice-looking design and has some interesting functionality. It's not entirely a loss for those reasons, but I'd rather have a coffee maker that looks less intriguing and makes better tasting coffee without the defects.

I agree with Joan and others that this product is seriously flawed. Initially, it makes great coffee, although the unit is a bit too tall, and because of the placement of the tank and small opening, it is very east to spill water when filling the tank. I could live with these design flaws. The real problem is that after a few months, the unit stops working, as many others have reported. Instead of hot water flowing from the water reservoir to the showerhead, the water all boils off. Only condensed water from the cover makes it into the filter basket. I get maybe one cup of awful coffee. The "self clean" light comes on, but the cleaning lasts one time at most. I have used the self-clean function repeatedly, to no avail. Stay away from this coffee maker. I am back to using an old Braun coffee maker, which unfortunately Black & Decker, which owns Braun, no longer makes.

The Cuisinart DCC1200 is just too unreliable. While it looks nice and makes great coffee when it is functioning correctly, it doesn't last long. I've had two of these machines stop working. There is a flaw that Cuisinart needs to address. My last one went into self-clean mode every time I made a pot of coffee. The coffee was terrible because half the water had evaporated away before brewing, so the coffee was like mud.

Bought this coffeemaker to replace one just like it. Old one was ancient and beginning to show it's age. New one has a different on/off swith (which I like) and is brewing great coffee, making me wish I'd replaced the old one sooner. Would highly reccomend this product and Amazon had the lowest price available.

I love this coffee maker. Don't believe the people that say it has design flaws.they are being EXTREMELY PICKY. I had a much more expensive Cuisinart Grind and Brew, while this doesn't grind, it makes perfect coffee and takes up less room on the counter, isn't as messy or time consuming. The design is great and the carafe doesn't drip. I love it.

This coffee machine is solid and durable. Best brewed coffee we've had, looks great in the kitchen. Like the fact that you have two filtration options (paper or permanent) and a variety of temperature settings. The one con about this coffee maker is that if you are short, you can't see how much water is in the reservoir as there is no water fill amount indicator on the outside, only the inside.

This is the third expensive coffee maker I've purchased. All of them have been disastrous: recalled, cracked or high maintenance, like this one, which has flooded the kitchen, ruined wooden furniture, and taken up more time than my family. This coffee pot needs cleaning more often than I make coffee; it blocks, floods and refuses to function, so the water evaporates in steam and the coffee is way too strong. Do yourself a favor, as I have done: buy a $20 or $30 cheap coffee pot, and leave the Cuisinarts for people who have nothing else to do in life but deal with their coffee pot.

This is a beautiful coffee maker and when first used, loved it. Now, three months in, it is defective even after a couple of cleanings (not brewing properly - incomplete cycles). Could be clogged? The grounds do stick to the top lid and when not very carefully wiped off will fall into the water basin. It does come with a 3 year warranty for "household only" use only (as specified with customer service). Customer service is a bit of hassle, they will tell you it is defective due to the calcium buildup and will want to know specifically how you interpret their cleaning instructions written in the their manual and what your water source is. They are not too helpful with you in getting these serviced/returned. This coffee maker is not worth the hassle. There are other brands that are more reliable and cost less. Don't waste your time and money with this one.

On a positive note, the coffee pot is better than most at pouring.

I have had very, very bad luck with coffee makers of late. I started out with the 14 cup model of the Cuisinart, which didn't even last a year. The on/off knob stopped working after about 8 months. Plus, that particular model was badly designed and when you opened it after the brew cycle, water poured (not just dripped, either) out the back, all over the counter. I had even worse luck with the DeLonghi 14 cup coffee maker.

We drink a lot of coffee, so the 14 cup sized maker (so called...more like 5 or 6 cup, all told)made sense. I soon realized that it's very difficult to find a 14 cup coffee maker, and when you do, it's very, very difficult to find replacement parts. So, after an exhaustive search, I finally settled on this model. I purchased it in August, and have waited a few months just to be sure I liked it before reviewing it (I formerly gave the DeLonghi 5 stars, and when it died after 6 weeks, I couldn't change my rating...grrrr).

First off, I love the black matte finish! It looks brand new even after several months' use (and we brew at least 2 pots per day, sometimes 3 or 4). Furthermore, those 2 cups make a big difference when it comes to the design of the top of the maker. Virtually no drips out the back when it's opened.

The coffee tastes great, and if you want it even hotter, there's a setting for that. I think the "normal" setting is fine, but everyone's got different taste. Also handy is the "self clean," which is a misnomer...what it does is tell you when the pot needs to be "vinegared". It doesn't do it itself...you must clean it manually, of course. It's also a good idea to regularly change the water filter (when it needs "self cleaning" is a handy time). Wish those were more readily available.

My only minor gripe is that when you do use the amount the manual says to use, you end up with wet coffee grounds all over the inside of the lid. No big deal...just wipe it down after each use.

"Good Service but incorrect display by Amazon" 2010-01-12

The review of the seller - good service - I received this coffee maker within 3 days of my order - great service. The review of Amazon - not so great in this instance. My original search was for coffee makers with grinder, so my assumption (my fault) was that the 10 that displayed had grinders on them. Not so; when I went to wrap this gift, I didn't see 'grinder' on the box so additional search on Goggle provided this model did not have a grinder. I contacted the seller (3 tries) but finally was able to get the information necessary to return the product. Once I had that information, the return and credit for the return went smoothly althought not for the entire amount of my purchase. I paid for the shipping to return the item, but then didn't receive the total amount of my purchase from the seller. Shopping online didn't prove to be any time or money saver in this instance. I did not attempt another purchase through Amazon as Christmas was coming and I needed the gift so I bought it locally at about the same price I would have paid on Amazon. Lesson learned - online shopping doesn't replace hands on, take the time shopping that is needed to avoid returns. Time is money, yes, but time not spent can also be costly.

This is a great coffee maker to make that perfect cup. I use a cuisinart burr grinder which is a must. If you don't use fresh beans and Fresh ground coffee you will never get that perfect cup. I like to try out different types of beans. This coffee maker is great for that I realy like the metal mesh filter and the charcol water filtration. I also like the 1 to 4 cup feature for when I don't feel like drinking a whole pot my my self. The adjustable temp feature is great to because some times I like It black and some times I use creamer. But for those of you who complain that it doesn't brew good coffee you will never get that perfect cup I you are using stale beans or a stale grind.

Received this coffed maker and love it! Easy to use and the feature for 1-4 cups of coffee makes brewing a small amount taste wonderful. The water filter also helps improve the flavor of the coffee. Also really like the beep to notify me when the coffee is finished brewing. I like to set the heat setting to low to keep the coffee tasting fresh longer. The stainless and black design add a stylish look to my kitchen. Best coffee maker I have ever owned!

"Taste doesn't compare with Krups, Braun or Gevalia" 2009-12-21

Just bought the DCC 1200 Brew Central, it doesn't meet my expectations. The brewed coffee doesn't come close to the taste of my old Krups, Braun and Gevalia Coffee machines. It is somewhat flat without aroma. It reminds me a lot of the 'basket filter' machines that are a lot cheaper. I am disappointed, expected much more from Cuisinart. Also, the programming doesn't seem to work, I will probably take it back to the store. The control of the 'hot temperature feature' is way overstated. It's hot, but not any hotter than my old machines. The coffee is supposed to be so hot that one can add milk or creamer and still have a cup of hot coffee, not so. Hard to determine the water level in the water reservoir, not visible on the outside. Too bad.....

Here is an update: I improved the taste of the coffee by removing the water filter, also got the programming to work........now I'm trying to get used to the coffee.
