Does this filter work in the Hamilton-Beech Stay or Go Coffee Make? I just recently purchased this coffee maker and the gold tone filter that I purchased has a solid bottom which results in the grounds splashing back into the water stream and the brewing portion of the machine and makes a large mess. I have switched back to paper until I can find one that allows the coffee to filter through the bottom. Hope this one will work...please let me know.

Dishwasher, no problem. Handle is actually helpful when waking up and half asleep...just aim it toward front of coffee maker when reloading it.

The filter work exactly like it is supposed to work. The manufacturer does say that very fine grounds may get into the coffee. Since I don't grind my coffee espresso fine for the drip coffee maker, it is a moot point. It wouldn't surprise me that harsh dishwasher soap could wear down the "gold tone" on the filter. After knocking out the grounds into the trash, it takes less than 30 seconds to use a little bit of soap and hot water to clean it. I'm not sure what magic properties some of the folks expect a simple coffee filter to have. This product works just fine and does what it is supposed to do.

I'd had a previous Cuisinart filter that lasted for years. The bottom of it was slightly open with coffee grounds slipping through. This one is a bit less sturdy. Have to be more careful when I empty the grounds. Otherwise does a good job of filtering the coffee.

The Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter for the Cuisinart 12-cup Coffee Maker - Stainless Steel with 30 Paper Filters is a great way to save money over paper filters, but the fact is paper filters do a better job -- in fact, they do a a much better job. If you use the GTF with a standard grade of ground coffee, you can expect fine coffee particles throughout the bottom quarter of your pot. A coffee that is not so finely ground would probably leave less residue than the Gold Tone Filter, but the end result is the same: this is a problem you do not have to worry about with paper filters.



That said, the flavor is almost as good (at least for the first few cups) and just having a permanent filter around will save you the aggravation of discovering you are out of paper filters while you are getting ready for work. That comfort alone makes this item worth the modest cost of six to seven dollars (the price as I write this review.) If you grind your own coffee less fine than commercial brands you can get rid of most of the problem of residue at the bottom, at which point the GTF becomes a very worth while purchase.
